Wendy Baumann

Wendy Baumann has been hired as a K-1 teacher at Sierra Foothill Charter School (SFCS). A Catheys Valley resident, Baumann comes to SFCS with 18 years of teaching experience, including two years at Catheys Valley Preschool. Baumann most recently taught first grade at St. Paul Lutheran School where her students took first place with their entry in Merced County’s Writing Festival.

Baumann said science is one of her favorite subjects to teach, and her engaging hands-on activities get kids excited about science, too. Her approach to math is also geared towards developing interest and deeper understanding.

Baumann’s certification as a Reading Recovery teacher ensures a comprehensive, intensive and individualized approach to the important K-1 task of learning to read and write. She said she is very excited about being a part of the SFCS start up.

Principal Travis Blagg is thrilled with Baumann and three additional new teacher hires, stating the individuals possess the right combination of skills, experience, and enthusiasm necessary for the school to hit the ground running in August 2012. In addition, all three teachers hold California multiple subject teaching credentials.
