California's Charter Schools: 20 Years of Reinventing Public Education

California history was made 20 years ago when the Charter Schools Act was signed. Since then, the charter school movement has grown beyond what was imagined. Thank you for supporting the movement, which is celebrating 20 years of reinventing public education!

Since Governor Pete Wilson signed the Charter Schools Law in 1992, the number of students served by California’s charter schools has grown significantly. This is a look at key milestones during the charter school movement’s 20 years of reinventing public education.

The 20th Annual California Charter Schools Conference will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, March 11-14, 2013.

The charter school movement is dependent upon the hard work of visionary founders, leaders, and authorizers, plus dedicated teachers and volunteers and inspired students. Get to know some of them here!
