SIATech San Diego
SIATech is an award-winning network of charter schools focused on dropout recovery. SIATech operates in partnership with the federal Job Corps and Workforce Investment Act programs on eight campuses throughout California. The school serves 100% low-income and previously out-of-school youth.
SIATech excels at identifying student strengths and individualizing instruction to meet each student’s needs and goals. The school’s safe and caring setting enables students to take charge of their learning and obtain the tools they need for lifetime success, whether it is at their chosen career or further education.
Adriana Madrigal Meneses is a SIATech San Diego graduate who was given a second chance to get back on track and finish high school through SIATech Charter School and San Diego Job Corps Center.
She credits the competent teachers and caring staff as helping her succeed and accomplish an educational transformation that led her life to take a different direction. Meneses dropped out of school when she was a freshman in high school after being overwhelmed in a traditional public high school and seeing her grades suffer daily. When she eventually came to SIATech San Diego, she felt the teachers and staff understood everyone’s different personal level and managed to work with each and every students individual work phase.
Menses said that over time, the students and teachers got to know each other so well it became a second family - a family that believed and encouraged her to overcome past failures, whether they were academic or personal.
After a year, Menses completed all the requirements for both trade and high school graduation. She was finally graduating from high school, went on to attend college, and is now married to her long-time boyfriend she met at SIATech San Diego. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children and own their own carwash business named “Inside Out.” They also volunteer in different charter schools with the intention to offer and encourage others the same opportunity of a life transformation that Menses once received.
